This beautiful flower was captured during one of my walks at the Denver Botanical Gardens.  The Dahlia was declared the national flower of Mexico in 1963. The tubers (long hollow tubular stems) were grown as a food crop by the Aztecs, but this use largely died out after the Spanish Conquest. Attempts to introduce the tubers as a food crop in Europe were unsuccessful.

There are so many different looks that a dahlia has and this one is one of my favorites!  I call this one "Peaceful Dahlia" because it emanates peace, calm and healing vibes to me.
